I have known Jack Wikle for close to 44 years. In all those years he has been a mentor to me and to several generations of bonsai lovers throughout the United States. He has and continues to share his deep knowledge of the art of bonsai as well as the horticultural knowledge that is crucial to the art. I have always admired Jack’s ability in taking ordinary plant materials and turning them into wonderful bonsai. His collection of miniature bonsai grown under fluorescent lights has stunned and amazed hordes of visitors to his home.
Over the years Jack has written and published many articles and presented numerous programs on bonsai across the US. Thousands have read his articles on how to simply grow trees indoors. He has never been one to hide his “secrets” but has transferred his information to newbies and experienced bonsai lovers.
Many of Jack’s trees are now the jewels of the bonsai collection at Hidden Lake Gardens in Tipton Michigan. To honor Jack and to ensure his trees and the collection is protected I ask all bonsai lovers and especially those whom Jack has educated to consider a contribution to the Jack Wikle Bonsai Legacy.
